Did you really release a virus?
     Yes, I wrote and released the MBDF-A virus in early 1992.  I was properly punished for it years ago, and I now spend my time on much more productive and socially acceptable projects.  I am always open to discussion about this; my e-mail address is on the previous help page.

Why all the fuss over the MBDF-A virus?
     I’m trying to put back into the Macintosh community as much as I took out of it.  If you can think of anything else I could do towards this end, let me know.

Is this program infected?
     To the best of my knowledge, it was not infected with any viruses or trojan horses when I released it.  The program checks its own integrity every time you run it; if it becomes infected or if it is altered in any way, it will complain that it “has been altered, possibly by a virus” and will refuse to run.
